If I could do it all again...

The holiday was great, but not having taken a sun holiday for over 5 years I think I'd forgotten how to pack. There was loads I'd forgotten and Items that weren't really very useful. So I was thinking what items would I have packed given another chance.

I don't like to spend a fortune on holiday clothes, after all, they get thrown into suitcases, covered in sand and chlorine and food (well in my case they do!) so I headed over to the George website where I know it's going to be in budget and on trend. My fave combo.

Clockwise - Yellow Maxi - £14// Leopard print swimsuit - £14// Cobalt midi dress - £10// Pineapple print sundress - £12// Hot orange jeggings - £12// Footbed sandals - £10

Firstly, I can't actually believe I'm going to admit to this, but I did not pack a maxi dress, I instantly regretted it as soon as I got there and spent the whole week annoyed at myself for it. So my first item is of course a maxi. I've seen this yellow one on a few people and hadn't realised it was from George. Needless to say I have now ordered it. i love the vibrant colour and it has a really cute exposed zip detail to the back.

Ok, so I didn't forget to pack a swimsuit, but I was seriously lacking in any halter necks which I love so much. This vibrant animal print one is fab, I love the shape of it.

Colour! Why didn't I pack many bright colours? I think in my head I thought sticking to a predominantly monochrome holiday wardrobe would be cool and classy, but I just ended up feeling a bit drab instead. This cobalt blue midi dress is perfect for dressing up or down, and it's jersey so it will keep you cool.

Print! Much as  above, I kind of packed really tamely when, let's be honest, if you can't rock a crazy, tiki, in your face print on holiday when can you? This amazing pineapple print dress is perfection.

We all know I love my jeans, but they can get a bit heavy for the summer, so I'm always looking for an alternative. I love these bright orange jeggings teamed with this seasons must-have footbed sandals. Team them with a loose fitting cami for and ubercool look.

Have I missed anything? What's your must-have holiday item?

Holiday essentials...

Ok, so bear with me, I will be boring you to death with a series of holiday posts. I hope they prove useful if you're heading off anywhere this year (or if the weather here decides to get it's act together!)

I thought I'd compile a list of a few bit's I found invaluable whilst away!

First up is a turban headband. Forever wanting to be Margot from the Good Life, there is nothing better than donning a kaftan and turban and swanning round the pool. I picked this one up from ASOS

As a short haired chick, my post-swim hair isn't quite as glamorous as those tousled beach curls all the magazines go on about. My hair looks rather more like a tousled rats nest. So; turban to the rescue! Priced at £6 this was a lifesaver throughout the holiday and I think I've found my lazy hair day solution for the summer!

Next up is this cute crochet cover up from Yours Clothing. I wore this to death in the day time over my cossie. I tended to team mine with floral trousers or denim cut-offs.

Messy bedroom, cute top.

A versatile pair of sandals are on my necessity list and I stumbled upon these ones whilst doing my weekly shop in Sainsburys.

Easily dressed up or down, I love the black and white weaved pattern and found them really comfortable.

And finally, we all know my deep love for big jewellery and this cutie was just screaming to be bought and paraded in the glorious Kos sunshine and wore it practically every night. I picked it up from a company called Beautique's Boutique

Necklace - Beautique's Boutique// Palm Tree Dress - New Look// Prescription Sunglasses - Specspost

They have an awesome range of stunning costume jewellery, all reasonably priced too. This was £20 and worth every penny, It's really substantial yet lightweight and the mix of colours is just gorgeous. Swoooooon.

So there you have it. Just some of my favourite holiday picks. I've got some outfit posts coming up, a guest post from the hubs and some wish list posts coming up this week, so lots to be getting on with! It's good to be back gang!

Post holiday blues...

I've been back in the country less than 24 hours and I'm moaning already. What the bloody bejeezus is going on with this weather? I am not impressed. Safe to say I had a wonderful time in Kos, it was sunny and beautiful and now I'm thoroughly fed up of being back here.

My sad, I'm back in wet England wearing a fur jacket face.

I must admit, as wonderful as it was, I was in the grips of some major PMT and although I tried not to let it spoil the holiday, it can be really hard to clear the fog so-to-speak. And I'll be completely honest, my body confidence took a knock, I was bloated and fed up, I felt like the hugest person to have walked the earth, I really had give myself a serious talking to. There was no way in hell I was going to let that niggling voice get the better of me.

The reality was I was one of many big girls that holiday, the majority of which were rocking their swimsuits and bikini's with pride, which is exactly what I knew I had to do. I don't know if it was the PMT, the pressure of my first holiday abroad for 5 years or what but for some reason I was being very hard on myself. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, even those of us who come across as super confident and carefree still have wobble days, where the strongest of wills can be crushed by a bad photo, or a quick glance in the mirror.

So here are some pics of me, I'm not stood in a flattering pose, I've got no make up on, my hair is a mess. But you know what? Fuck it. It's me, I'm on a bloody gorgeous beach with my bloody gorgeous family, that's a whole lot of fabulous right there.

Additional note: I've had so much lovely feedback about this post, thank you!!! And through discussion on Facebook i just wanted to add to the post to say - Will my little girl look back at our holiday and think "gosh my mummy was so fat, why did she wear a swimming costume" or will she look back and think "I loved holding my mummy's hand and jumping off the side of the pool, building sand castles and being wrapped up in her arms when I got out of the sea". I know it will be the latter. Don't let your lack of confidence stop you making memories. Life is too short to sit back and watch other people have fun.

Repurpose, recycle, reuse...

Remember last year when everyone (including me) went gaga over swing dresses? Well don't get me wrong, I love a good swing dress, but the problem is, they don't really seem to fit into my life very well. They're a bit too swooshy for my day to day wardrobe, there's no way I'm going to run after Poppy with risk of exposing my arse cheek to everyone down the street. So, I found my beloved swing dresses languishing in the wardrobe gathering dust. I was just about to start selling them when I realised maybe my mum could help out.

So yeh, it's not a dramatic transformation but we lopped the bottom of this one (and a couple of others) making it into a much more wearable garment for me, now I can wear it with jeans, trousers and maxi skirts.

And what did we do with the bit we cut off the bottom? Well made a cute headband of course!

Summer Romance...

We all know I have a bit of a reputation for being a tomboy, I like nothing more than a pair of jeans and my converse. But I do, now and then like to get my femme on and mix things up!

Look, I even tried to get all arty with my pics...

I was sent this beautiful 40s style wrap dress from Scarlett and Jo. The first raft of the new Summer Romance collection has just hit Evans, with more pieces to follow in the next few weeks. And I think it's my favourite collection so far. I never really got into the whole power fit dress craze, it's just not the kind of dress that fits in with my life, but these new pieces are a bit more versatile and have a retro vibe about them which although I don't fully embrace nowadays I still like to dip back into now and then.

I wore: Plus size wrap dress - Scarlett and Jo// Orange Wedges - Clarks// Crazy hair - all me

The dress is a beautiful heavy jersey, really soft to the touch. I'm wearing the 22 which is true to size.  The bust area is a wrap so those of you with a large bust might want to pop a modesty vest under (or not ;)) The length is a perfect midi, not just below the knee but an actual midi. The waist tie goes round twice and ties in the front which I thought was a nice touch.

A close up of the colours and the SHOEEEEES

Just a reminder and this way I get to say it again.... I'm going on holiday this week, so I will try and schedule some posts, but if not, just take it as a given that I'm sat on a sun lounger sipping cocktails in my fatkini being fabulous (I'll actually be running round after a 4 year old playing frisbee in the pool, but hey, who am I to crush your illusions?)

OOTD: Hello old friend...

Well my first year of uni is done, all my essays are handed in, that's it! It went by in a flash but in the same breath it feels like an absolute age since I enrolled, I've just got to wait for feedback and grades now *vom*. I went out on Wednesday night with the uni gang to celebrate, and spent most of yesterday recovering, I'm still really busy with a ton of stuff so this will be a quick one. I just wanted to share this cute top I got from Evans when I was out shopping with my mum last week.

Nicked from my instagram... @mrsbebe_

I have had a long time love affair with teaming stripes and leopard print, it's one of my favourite combo's, pair it with denim and it's perfection. I know you're probably sick of seeing my Junarose jeans, but these are actually different ones from my usual ones, same style just a shade or two lighter (I know I'm addicted to them!).

I wore: Stripe smock top - Evans// Jeans - JUNAROSE// Shoes - Primark

I'm going on holiday next week so things might be a little quiet for a week or so, but I'm going to try and schedule some posts... try ha!

In the bag!

It's no secret I love a good accessory so when new brand Zuri got in touch I jumped at the chance of reviewing one of their bags.

What really jumped out at me was how different the bags are. I loved the mix of bold fabric and leather and the clever detailing.

I was sent the Tanya rivet bag in black. When the satchel style bag arrived it was much bigger than I thought it would be, which is a bonus because I like to carry my life around in my bag! The leather is very thick and ridged which I think will make for a really durable bag. I love the contrast of the fabric on the front and the rivet detail gives it a really fresh edge.

I loved this outfit from my post the other day and just think the bag added to it even more, the colours are great for mixing with loads of different outfits. It's big enough to fit an iPad in, large notebooks and files so makes a great work bag as well as casual bag.

The fabric to the front is 100% cotton and the whole bag is leather. The bags are made in London and the designed by the founder of Zuri, Sihle Nicole Guga who sources all the materials herself too. I love that the whole process is so organic and that the bags are made here in the UK.

Vibrant and unusual

You can view the full range here - My other faves are the yellow version of the Tanya along with the Xris black. Which one is your favourite?
