Life: If you pass my way...

Christmas for many is a time of hope and joy, but for a lot of us, for varying reasons, it can be stressful, or lonely or upsetting. Firstly, it really is okay not to be okay at Christmas. Don't ever feel obliged to be jolly for someone else's sake.

For me there are lots of reasons Christmas isn't as joyful as some people's. Firstly I'm am atheist, secondly, I don't like the rich food, thirdly I'm not good at festivities and forced enthusiasm and yes, the list could go on and on. If it wasn't for Poppy, I wouldn't even put the decorations up, I hate how they make my house look, it all just feels messy to me. See! I'm the Grinch!

But on a serious note, Christmas can be an incredibly lonely time for a lot of people and don't forget you can feel desperately lonely in a room full of people, you don't have to be physically alone. It throws up all kinds of memories, feelings and on an absolute basic level the sheer stress of sorting everything out can be very hard.

If you need to talk to someone, there are lots and lots of places and people you can reach out to. Some of my favourite blogging babes have already compiled some amazing resources so I'm going to point you in their direction. And please, don't ever feel guilty for not feeling festive. It's absolutely normal and fine. Fuck enforced festivities.

Sending you all a massive amount of love and strength. Don't forget to be kind to yourself. If you need to lock yourself away in a room for an hour then make your excuses and go, don't feel like you have to be social all day.

Take care gang, love you lots x x x
