2013 Wow.

New Year is a funny time. I tend to find myself in a reflective mood, and a bit restless. Everything seems to go slow over the festive period and more often than not I'm just rearing to get on with the New Year. (Note to self. Shut your brain off for just one second).

Again it's been a fantastic year blog wise, and I don't really have the words to express how grateful I am for every one who reads the blog and takes the time to email me, comment on the blog and chat on Facebook and twitter.

Too much babe for words….

Plus North was a massive success, something I am and will always be incredibly proud of. To think that over 250 people bought tickets and huge brands entrusted us is mind-blowing.

I've got to meet some celebs, travel the country, indulge in my love of fashion and work with some awesome people.

Shmoozing. LOL.

As my personal life gets busier and busier what with my Degree and job at SLiNK Boutique I'm more than aware that I'm not updating the blog as much as I used to, but I hope theres still lots for you to enjoy and I'm always open to suggestions, if theres anything you'd like me to tackle next year, anything you'd like me to talk about, any outfit challenges for example then let me know!!

And once again…

My 12 favourite looks of 2013

Hello! As we approach the end of the year I thought I'd do my fave outfits of the year in a month by month run down! I always love looking back at my year because after all my blog is more than anything a little diary of my life.

It was quite tough picking just one outfit for every month, but it was fun too. Especially seeing some of the less than inspiring outfits I wore!! Nobody is perfect and I have definitely blogged some duff outfits!!

January…

February…

March…

April…

May…

June…

July…

August…

September…

October…

November…

December…

So what do you think? Did I pick the right outfits? And what do we think of the hair changes? I'm thinking of going back brown, but I do like the blonde… Hellllllllp!!!

Party Dress Test

Are we all enjoying the festive season? I'm having a lovely time catching up with friends and family and eating my body weight in turkey!

I was contacted by the lovely guys at Most Wanted, the lifestyle magazine for VoucherCodes.co.uk to see if I wanted to get involved in their Party Dress Test.

Quoting directly from the email - "The Party Dress Test is part of a bigger research project we’re running to try and discover how to help people to get the most for their money when buying new party dresses. We recently conducted research that found 18-24 year olds are spending an average of £119 on Christmas/New Year’s Eve party outfits. When these outfits are barely aired for the rest of the year, this doesn’t seem like the best way to spend when shopping"

So I was challenged to see if I could be a bit more savvy. I was given a budget of £80 to buy a dress and any accessories I could manage and then style the dress three ways.

This is how I spent my money...

Dress - ASOS - £38.00
Shoes - ASOS - £14.00
Hat - New Look - £3.50
Necklace - New Look - £19.99
-------------------------------------------
Grand Total - £75.49

I was very chuffed to have come in under budget by just less than a fiver, with which you could easily pick up a pair of leggings to go under the dress for example.

Evening

I wore: Dress - ASOS Curve// Shoes - ASOS// Necklace (sold out)- New Look// Clutch (past season) - Matalan

The blue of the dress looks really beautiful against the silver of the huge statement necklace. I went bare-legged to show off the gorgeous detail of the shoes. The asymmetrical cape detail makes this dress to be honest. The material is a heavy crepe, which gives it a really special feel.

School Run

I wore: Dress - ASOS// Leggings - Sainsburys// Boots (past season) - Evans// Scarf - Gift// Denim Jacket (past season) - South @Very

It's important to be warm when doing the school run, but I still want to look great. The cute beenie is my winter essential. As a short haired gal my ears can get a bit chilly!! My mum got me this lovely scarf for christmas which goes great with the blue of the dress. Add a jacket and biker boots for a casual and practical look.

Business Meeting

I wore: Dress - ASOS// Leggings - Sainsburys// Shoes - Simply Be// Jacket - Simply Be// Necklace - H&M

This implies I'm always rushing off to meetings, oh if only my life was that glamorous but on the odd occasion I do have to meet with someone, I like to look smart, but not too formal. So teaming the dress with leggings and a tuxedo style jacket makes it look formal enough but not too stuffy.

If you're doing some last minute New Years Eve dress shopping be sure to check the Voucher Codes website, they have heaps of money off vouchers that could help you stretch your budget just that little bit further!

Festive Wishes...

A very Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate, to those of you who don't...enjoy the time off work!!

Every year I like to post some numbers and websites of organisations that might be of help to those of us who aren't feeling the festive cheer and may be struggling. The pressures of this time of year are untold. Financial struggles, the stark reminder of those who aren't here to celebrate with us and everyone else's merriment amplifying your feelings. It can be very easy to take a turn for the worse. Please know you are not alone in these feelings and there is help and comfort out there.

Merry fucking Christmas….

Sian over at Sort Life Out; Buy Milk has done a far better job of summing this up and compiling details than I, so I direct you to her post should you need some help.

Sending you all, regardless of your state of mind, a tonne of love and hugs!!

OOTD: Two Tone Casual

I was flicking through my phone earlier and found these pics. I had totally forgotten I'd taken them and the outfit isn't massively exciting or probably blog worthy but I thought after all the glam of the party wear posts it's just nice to see some real casual outfits too!

A few weeks back I stocked up on some knitwear from George at Asda who always have great pieces when you're on a budget.

The contrast knit jumper is just £8, and is fab for throwing on with jeans. It's a thin knit which is perfect for layering up, I teamed it with my lovely leopard print scarf from Primark that my best friend bought me, Junarose jeans and Converse.

OOTD: New to me...

I'm a bit of an eBay addict, it's one of the few places I can find plus size vintage. You have to sift through a lot of rubbish and even when it's arrived it's not always what you expect. I picked up this coat last week, it's not quite as vintage as I thought, I'd hazard a guess at 90s now it's arrived, but it's still really cute and I only paid about £10 for it, so it's no biggy.

I've done something a bit dodgy to my back, so please excuse the slightly pained expression on my face!!

I kept the outfit really simple, I wanted the coat to speak for itself and well some day's I just want to wear all black. I've spoke of my love of black before at great length! it's just so chic and easy to wear!

I wore: Trousers - New Look// Jumper - F&F// Jacket - eBay// Shoes - eBay// Bag (similar) - Clarks

Have you had any successes picking up vintage items on eBay? Or do you know of any other cool places to pick up plus size vintage?
