Underneath your clothes...

Ok ladies, can we talk about pants? ladies briefs, knickers, whatever you call them...

Blogging pretty dresses every day is rather lovely, but sometimes as a plus size lady it's the garments under our clothes that are even more difficult to find, especially if you're over a size 22, and even more so if you don't want to have to pay a fortune for them. When Bonmarché contacted me to write about their lingerie, I was more than happy too, as a existing wearer of thier knickers, I can happily write about the merits of lingerie from Bonmarché all day long!

I've picked out some of my favourites from the website. I've stuck with every day pants, it might not be sexy or glamorous, but it's practical and let's face it, when I pick out my knickers in the morning, I'm not looking to impress anyone, I want them to look good, feel great and not ride up my bum, it's as simple as that.

 photo 8661413f76f4875f5e9f5ce493c0ea0f_zps1c66fc7c.jpg

These microfibre knickers are listed as a full brief, I'd personally call them a boy short, a style I wear a lot of the time, I don't know, maybe I'm just getting old and trying to sound trendy?! The microfibre makes them really soft against your skin and at £4.50 a pair they're really great value. They're available up to a size 32 and the mint green is lovely for the summer under lighter coloured clothes.

 photo 0810a0fb1c8bab7ac4f337038b7ac06b_zpsf200bb92.jpg

Staying with a pastel theme this multi pack of 5 briefs are amazing value for money at £7 a pack or 2 packs for £12, that's 10 pairs of knickers for £12 folks, they go up to a size 26 too, I just think they're cute and fresh!

 photo 1eed17558bb973b25192eda6dd67b596_zpsb8f3c004.jpg

Now all those pretty pastels are all good and well, but if you're anything like me 90% of your knicker draw is made up of black. I just find them to be the most practical. A lot of my trousers are of a darker colour, so they sit better under those and quite frankly as plain as they are I don't think there's anything sexier than just a nice pair of black knickers, classic and chic! I love these black plain high leg briefs, the little hint of lace is lovely and you can get 3 pairs for £8 so very bargainous indeed!

Bonmarché have a great selection of lingerie including bras, knickers and shapewear right up to a size 32. I think all too often its over looked as a bit of a granny store, but I've found myself stopping by there more and more just lately, (as you may remember I got the coat of dreams from there, ahhhhh beautiful) and I love their pyjamas too. I've said this before about many other Plus Size brands, but with less choice than our slimmer friends, it's really worth exploring every store that offers plus size clothing, on first look they might seem a bit too old, or a bit too expensive, but I think sometimes you can be surprised, I know I was with Bonmarché!

I die for Tie Dye...

God that was a bit of tenous title wasn't it? I can hear a collective groan! Swiftly moving on, I had a spare £15 knocking around in my PayPal account, although to be fair the way things are looking now I shouldn't have spent it, but hey, I'll look stylish when they evict me....

I got this Tie Dye midi dress from New Look, it's rather bloody marvellous I think!

The dress is snug, it's meant to be to be fair, but if you're not a fan of tight, it might be worth sizing up. I did however stick with my usual size 22. The material is really soft and stretchy and I love the midi length, I can't wait to wear it in the summer with some great sandals or wedges... Speaking of summer, it's sunny outside, and this pleases me greatly. Does the weather effect your mood?

Sunshine and lollipops....

Oh hey! How are you all? Good I hope?.... Me? A bit down actually, MrBeBe is sicky poorly in bed, I'm crazy tired and to top it all off twitter (my second home) feels a bit antsy today, those of you who frequent it's strange little world will know what I mean? Someone explores their feelings, someone else rubbishes them, argument ensues etc etc. The beauty of social media is that all sorts of everyone come together in one place to chat, aimlessly ramble if you will, but sometimes people can take stuff personally, or not agree and it all gets a bit school playground-ish.

I was ready wade into something myself today, something very personal and upsetting for me, instead for my sanity I decided come on here and ramble at you guys instead... You lucky, lucky people!!

So anyway, let's look at pretty things shall we? Yes I think so....

Review: Clarks Chorus Voice

Hello! How are you all? I've spent a very cold but enjoyable weekend at Butlins with the fam, babba BeBe absolutely loved it, which is really the most important thing (although I must say the rapids at the pool and the Sesame Street stage show pretty much rocked my world too!)

So anyway, I was contacted to see if I'd like to review a pair of Clarks shoes, I'm a huge Clarks fan, in fact my first ever post was about my very much loved and still in use Clarks satchel bag. If I want comfortable, good quality, hard wearing shoes, Clarks is my go-to place. In the last 5 years or so, they've become so much more than that though, with fashion forward lines, ranges with a vintage vibe, they really do have it going on. (did I just say, have it going on? Gawd)

So yeh, moving on... I was sent the beautiful Chorus Voice suede court shoes to review and much to my squuuueeeeee-y delight they are lined with Liberty Art fabric, which, as a huge Art Nouveau lover is a bit special.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I kow, I know it's on the inside, but sometimes it's the little things, the attention to detail that make a product feel really special.

The shoes themselves come up quite high on the foot, which I think gives them a real 40's look which I love, the suede is a really subtle heather shade, not too purpley, more a light grey with a hint of lilac. I ordered the D width fitting which I found more than generous, but I don't have particularly wide feet, so they do come in an E too if you need a bit more room in your shoes. The soles are paddded and are really comfortable.

We were way at the back of the camp and I walked the length of it and back when we went out for the evening and found them really comfy, they felt secure and the heel height was just right. I wore mine with leggings, my ASOS curve swing dress and duck print Primark jacket...

Are you a Clarks lover? I still buy cheap fashion shoes, but when it matters, I like to spend that little bit more for a quality product. Do you agree?

Ever Decreasing Sizes....

With more and more shops disappearing from the high street I, more often than not, find myself online shopping the choice seems to be wider and there's no added hassle of rude assistants or busy, cramped shops.

I was browsing Littlewoods the other day and thought I'd check out the Myleene Klass range, I've seen a few bloggers post some cute dresses from the range (namely the mask tea dress) and saw that it went up to a 24. So when I checked out the range today and saw this beautiful teapot dress, I got rather excited...

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

But... Disappointment, it appears the range is now only available up to a size 20, which is frankly a bit rubbish. So, without further a do, I hotfooted it over to So Fabulous, where I know I won't be disappointed size wise. And low and behold I stumbled upon this beauty, so no, it's not teapots (sob) but going up to a size 28 it's a good alternative...

This heart print dress is really cute and the cutout detail to the neckline is great, well done So Fabulous!

Date night - Take 2!

You might remember back in November mine and Mr BeBe's failed attempt at a date, yes, that's right folks it's taken me and the husband 4 months to reschedule our date! Well this time we managed to successfully go to the cinema, yes well done BeBe's!

These are terrible pics, but basically I wore my ASOS leopard print body con dress, barratts boots and chunky, scatty old Primark cardigan, it was a really comfy outfit but because the dress was body con, I felt a bit slinky and sexy at the same time!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Yes I actually posed in the cinema when they'd out the house lights up, I am a compete saddo!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Scary eyes!! So anyway we went to see This is 40, and apart from the obvious opportunity to do more major Paul Rudd perving (oh my goodness, he is too sexual for words) it really was so funny from start to finish, I was literally crying with laughter at some bits, and it was exactly what I needed!

Have you seen any good films lately? Any recommendations?

Bling it baby!

Hello!!

So, its always fun when a company approaches you to do something a little different. Don't get me wrong, reviewing the latest clothes is pretty much a dream come true, but when I'm set a challenge it mixes things up a little.

Ladbrokes contacted me about the challenge to Celebrate the launch of Ladbrokes Diamond Slot Game. They sent out "bling kits" for bloggers to customise a pair of shoes, along with a voucher for ASOS we could buy a pair and bling them or use an existing pair and create an outfit using the voucher, I went for the latter as I had the perfect pair of boots that were languishing in my cupboard getting no use at all!!

We were sent studs, and chyrstals, glue and tools to complete the task. I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to cutomise my boots, but in the end let the top I bought dictate the style, I went for the tartan peplum top, which I thought it had a hint of punk about it so I decided to stud my boots.

Following the sewn line of the boots I thought it would give me a good guide of how to position the studs....

The finished results...

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I love this tartan peplum, I can also see myself wearing it with jeans and a cardi, and leopard print pumps for a casual look!

I think I could have absolutely gone to town with bling on the boots, but it just isn't me, so I went for simple but striking. How would you have blinged your shoes up?

My big fat disappointment...

As you know, last weekend I attended the first British Plus Size Fashion Weekend. The run up to this event has been tough for Toni and I, firstly the event being touted as the first plus size fashion event to happen in the UK was a little heartbreaking, we'd work so hard on Plus North and when Plus London 1&2 before us had been such a great events too it was a little hard to swallow. Secondly, we'd unfortunately been dragged into arguments that weren't ours to have, the outrage over ticket prices meant comparisons were made to our event and that of Plus London, because we offer such good value for money, and the use of professional models limited in size was also something we were dragged into, but throughout, Toni and I tried to take a step back, for the sake of our event and professionalism.

I personally wasn't going to attend the event, with tickets at £45 each along with travel and hotel, I genuinely just could not afford it, but when I was asked to cover the event and have my expenses etc paid, it seemed like too good an opportunity to pass on, and I must admit, my curiosity really did get the better of me. I am after all, only human.

So I guess this is a really weird post for me to write. On a purely selfish level, I don't want to be perceived as being a bitch, but all I can do is genuinely report my experience of the event.

First off, I have to say, all credit to the team, they created a huge buzz around the event, they secured some amazing brands, massive amounts of publicity and some big stars. But, and there is a huge but (excuse the fat pun) something just didn't work or gel.

I tried to go with an open mind and be as unbiased and neutral as I possibly could, after all I was there representing a brand, but I couldn't help but make comparisons to our event.

The venue although stunning from the outside was very shabby and not fit for purpose, the event had been billed as this huge weekend, purposefully scheduled to coincide with LFW to make a statement, plus size fashion can compete with straight sized fashion, but what we was greeted with was a very run down, scruffy building with unwelcoming staff, little information as to where events were taking place and cramped, dark spaces.

We firstly stopped by the Market Place, a small room, packed with plus size brands. It was great to see some familiar faces, catch up with people and meet new and exciting brands, but, to be fair once you'd done that for an hour maximum, there really wasn't anything else to do. There was no social area, no seating area, groups of women huddled in corridors or out on the street chatting, which in itself was brilliant, I just wish they/I would have had somewhere more comfortable to do it, with no refreshments available we spent much of our time popping across the road to a corner shop to buy drinks as it was so hot and stuffy at the venue.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

We then went on to check out the clothes swap, it was what it was really, there was a rail of clothes to which you added yours and then decided on items to swap.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

After killing a couple of hours chatting, walking round the market place again we headed up for the Plus Size Discussion Panel. I actually really enjoyed this portion of the day, it was interesting to hear other women's thoughts and questions on the Plus Size Community, and to hear from the perspective of designers and fashion buyers. If anything I wish it could have gone on a little longer. I think if they were to do it again next year it might be worth looking at doing it in a proper conference space, a huge hall and microphones don't always mix, the acoustics weren't great and the panel struggled to understand what was being said to them.

After the panel, we were ushered out of the room into the down stairs lobby area, the vendors at the market place were already packing up so we found ourselves squeezed in to a corridor like sardines for what felt like an eternity. Looking around I saw lots of weary faces, who after such a long day with nowhere to sit down we're being made to wait around even longer. Eventually we were allowed back into to large hall (which architecturally was stunning) where we awaited the fashion show. Billed as being hosted by Gemma Collins, it was instead hosted by a lady I wasn't familiar with wearing a skinny bashing T-Shirt saying "I don't want to be size 0" who then went on to tell a really rude joke about how skinny people should eat something *groan* surely we're over this us and them mentality? I don't hate thin people, I don't wish them ill or expect them to put weight on to make me feel better, because I'm happy being a fat woman, I don't need to be rude to thin women to validate me and my body thank you very much.

I digress, the show, which was running 20 minutes late finally got underway, out came model after model in some great outfits, and it was at this point I held my hands up and thought, yeh, you know what ladies? you've got me here, this is a great show, the models look amazing, the atmosphere had a great buzz about it, and I felt proud to be part of something so positive, but then unfortunately things took a nose dive again, the show was very long and drawn out with lots of technical problems.

All in all, the event was a huge disappointment for me, if less time had been spent schmoozing the press and more time spent focussing on what the customer might have needed, what would have made the people paying out £45 of their hard earned cash feel more positive I might have been able to come away with some more positive things to say. The organisation, communication and customer relations left a lot to be desired.

The organisers worked hard, I totally get that, I understand what it's like to run a big event, the amount of hours it takes liaising with brands, dealing with customer queries, but I just felt the event was pitched as this big, glamorous, empowering event to rival LFW, but what we was in fact met with was a big fat disappointment.

OOTD: BPSFW for F&F Clothing

Hello guys,

I'm brought to you today by the words tired and fuzzy headed! So, yesterday I left my house at 6am to head down to London for the British Plus Size Weekend, and after a very long journey I finally arrived in busy Shoreditch for the event, it was really great to see so many Plus Size women in one room, who quite clearly had a passion for clothes, and fashion.

I have lots of thoughts about the event, which I'll write up in a seperate post, but for ow ill stick to the clothes! The guys a F&F Clothing very kindly sent me a voucher so I could get some clothes for the event,I know it was going to be a long day, so I went for comfortable yet stylish.. Oh gawd, I hope I pulled it off....

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I went for the Zanzibar print jacket (which by the way had matching trousers but they didn't have them in my size in my local store and I didn't have time to order them! Gutted) I layered it over the oversized satin shirt dress (pictured below) I loved this dress it was so easy to wear and felt great,it also comes in orange and khaki, I'm very tempted to buy both!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I finished the out outfit off with some sparkly boots which I comfortably wore for a good 8 hours, which fore, and heels is a massive triumph!

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

It was really nice to spend the day with so many like minded women and catch up with some lovely bloggers, I'll be doing a little write-up over on the F&F Clothing Blog, so keep your eyes peeled for that, and as mentioned above, I'll be doing my own assessment on the day in another post. But for now, thank you F&F Clothing for giving me the opportunity to experience the event and making me feel fabulous in my F&F outfit!

Its Leopard Jim, but not as we know it..

I'm aware a may have a made a Star Trek reference more than once in the past few weeks, it does nothing for my cool rep I know.... *snigger* so yeh, the marvellous folk at Simply Be sent me a couple of bits from their new SS13 range, one of which I thought I'd share with you today. You all know I'm a huge leopard print fan, but I very rarely deviate from the standard brown tone print, so when I saw this black and white take on leopard print I thought it would make a nice albeit small change to my usual style..

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I kept it simple with black skinny jeans, ballet pumps and my ancient orange geometric necklace that I've had for years! You can read all the details at the top here..

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

The top itself is a thick jersey with exposed zip detailing to the back that goes down about a third of the way, it feels really nice against the skins and has a south drop hem at the back. I ordered the 22 and found this to be true to size.

Whilst we're on the subject of Simply Be they have a great competition over on their Facebook page, you can design a t-shirt and be in with a chance of winning £1000 to spend at Simply Be! click here for more details..

F&F Clothing Giveaway - Feeling Fabulous

Hello everyone! As you may know I'm whizzing off to London to cover the British Plus Size Fashion Weekend for the lovely folk at F&F Clothing, and being the generous peeps that they are, they've given me a £50 voucher to giveaway on the blog!

So here's what you've got to do..... You might be aware that I'm a huge Pinterest fan, I can easily while away the hours looking at pretty dresses and rad fats so, in the spirit of this, I'd like you to create a board called "Feeling Fabulous with F&F" I'd like you to go to the F&F Clothing website, and pin a fabulous outfit from their range, and then scour the rest of the net/pinterest for anything else that makes you feel great about being a plus size woman, this could be a picture of an inspirational woman, a quote, or something else "plus size positive", add in accessories, shoes the lot from anywhere on the web, as long as the core outfit is from F&F Clothing, and pin me a WOW outfit!

Once you're happy with your board, tweet me the link on @mrsbebe_ along with the hashtag #FeelFabulousBB - I'm so excited to see what you all come up with. The competition closes on the 1st of March, so you've got 2 weeks to get pinning.

For inspiration I've created my own board, you can view it here

The best laid plans.....

Brrrrrr! A very chilly hello from a somewhat snowy Lincolnshire! And what has been a bit of a crazy day, but ultimately fruitful!

I was due to catch a train to Leeds today mid-morning when I found out there'd been a landslide from a quarry situated close the the rail tracks, and when I say landslide I mean....

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Seriously, what the actual F?! So erm yeh, there was a replacement bus service which would have added an extra hour onto my journey, so my dad came to the rescue and drove me!

So I digress.... I always like to travel in comfort so I wore my new ASOS bunny shirt, which I sized up to the 26 in, this was mainly because I wanted it to be oversized, and long enough to wear with leggings. Any smaller I would have been restricted to wearing it with jeans or tucked into skirts. This way I can do both.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I wore// Jacket - So Fabulous// Shirt - ASOS Curve// Leggings - Sainsburys// Biker Boots - Evans

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

And the reason I was in Leeds? Well Toni and I met with the lovely Martin from Best British Bloggers to talk about all things Plus North and we can now confirm that they'll be running an exclusive blogger workshop on the morning prior to the event, there will be limited places and more details will be available on the website very soon, so stay tuned! Exciting huh?!

Miss Difusa Review

Hello!

Hope you're all well, I've got another mad busy week ahead of me, some which I'll tell you about at the end of this post!

So,following on from last weeks post, I've got another great small independent retailer to introduce you to today. The lovely Patty contacted me last week to let me know that her business Miss Difusa was up and running and asked if I'd like to try out some of their tights.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I was sent the very bold Cosmic print tights to try out. I'll be completely honest, when they arrived and I saw they were the Pamela Mann brand, I was a little scepticle. I've had their tights before and they've not been great, I struggled to get them on let alone wear them for any length of time. And on removing them from the packet I was quite alarmed at the shape of the tights. They had a very shallow crotch area. But I'm pleased to say, they were very stretchy, and went on very easily. They stayed in place all day and were very comfortable to wear.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I wore them with my new ASOS navy knitted dress, which I sized down to the 20 in, and my mustard love label shoes (past season)

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I was pleasantly surprised with the tights, and will definitely be trying out some more of the range, I did size up to the 26-30 as I'm 5'7" and have really chunky thighs, they fitted perfectly though! I look forward to see what Miss Difusa has in store for the future and Thanks Patty!

Oh yeh, and my busy week? Well firstly I'm going to Leeds on Wednesday to meet with the guys at Best British Bloggers with my Plus North hat on, and then on Saturday morning I'm travelling down to London to attend the British Plus Size Fashion Weekend, I'll be covering the event for F&F Clothing, so watch out for tweets, blogs and Facebook activity around that, there will also be a giveaway too! Exciting stuff!

Arcobaleno Jewellery Review

Evening chaps! The lovely Alyssa, owner of Arcobaleno Jewellery Design asked if I'd like it if she designed a piece for me, of course, I was like....erm yeh! We had a little chat over email and I said I normally go for either chunky funky type jewellery, or more nautical, rockabilly stuff for my more retro days. Within a couple of weeks I got the cutest parcel with a the loveliest bracelet and a bonus pair of earrings.

The beautiful bracelet is made of a twisted rope style fabric with silver loops and cute anchor, the fastening in the back is a silver chain and sweet little "made with love" tag.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
A hand model I'll never be....

The bracelet is really well made, it feels really substanstial. The rope (I don't know what the technical term is?) is silky and soft against the skin, I love how it feels all swishy! (you know I'm good with the words don't you?!)

Alyssa very kindly sent me these skull and crossbones earrings too, I wouldn't have normally picked them for myself, but I love how they look on!

Curvaceous Inc Launch Party

So you've seen my outfits, now a bit about the event! Last week I was invited to the launch of the newest Plus Size magazine to hit the market, Curvaceous Inc. not only was I there to enjoy the yummy nibbles and fabulous catwalk show, but I was also there with my Plus North hat on. The lovely Leanna, Founder and Editor in Chief of the magazine asked if I'd like to give a short talk on Plus North. Which I of course did! I'm convinced I babbled the whole way through, but lots of ladies came to me after to talk about Plus North and say how excited they were for this years event, so I couldn't have done too bad!

The event itself took place in the beautiful Bank Restaurant in central Birmingham. Before the event I met up with fellow bloggers Sian and Rosie before we went to the venue to meet Naomi. We were greeted by the lovely Curvaceous Inc Team, who were really welcoming, yummy canapés did the rounds and along with a delicious raspberry Bellini in hand we sat down to a catwalk featuring Dorothy Perkins, Navabi and ASOS Curve.

Models supplied by Hughes Models strutted their stuff to tunes from the DJ and commentary from host Katie Mulcahy, Creative Director for Lisa Shepherd Salons.

We were also treated to a talk from Owner of Dress XS a Plus Size occasion wear agency, it was really interesting to hear, and identify with the struggles Natalie had experienced when trying to find an outfit for her sisters wedding and how even when we find eventually do find something suitable we're then lumbered with a wardrobe full of expensive occasion wear we'll only get use out of once or twice. Natalie offers a service to sell those items on so that other Plus Size women can find a great outfit for their special occasion.

Once the festivities were over, we spent the night chatting, mingling and boozing, and check me out hanging with the models...!

I had a great night, a huge thanks goes out to the team for inviting me! Curvaceous Inc is on sale now, grab your copy via the website... and for more pictures of the evening head over to their Facebook page.
