I'll take the high road.....

 Hello, remember me?!!

I think this is possibly the longest break I've taken on the blog, and you know what? I needed it. Plus North, starting uni, a trip to London and a holiday have all took up massive amounts of my time, but fear not, I'm hoping to be back in the full swing of things this week, I've got some fab reviews coming up, plus size fashion news and might find something to have a rant about about. Haven't done one of those in a while have I?

I thought I'd hop on here quickly this evening in between reading all my material for uni tomorrow to show you a few holiday snaps and just to say hi really.

For those of you who don't know I've just spent a splendid week in the Scottish highlands before whizzing across to Edinburgh for the day to visit the zoo and have a slap up meal for my dads birthday.

We spent the week in a lovely little lodge just outside Fort William, the setting and lodge itself were lovely, a little over cluttered for my liking but lovely all the same.. If you fancy having a nose, the link is here....

Our time was filled with walks, tourist attractions and a LOT of food. Excessive amounts of Haggis and seafood where washed down with copious amounts of strong, warming tea. All completely necessary due the the incessant rain and cold temperatures!!

Braving the rain for a hike in the highlands...

I didn't mind the rain though, it kind of wouldn't have been Scotland if we didn't have a little bit of rain and besides it makes the waterfalls that bit more spectacular!

Steall Falls...

I don't think we could have chosen a wetter day to hike over the somewhat treacherous terrain but once we'd turned the final corner onto the open land, with nothing but the sound of the thunderous waterfall it really was worth the fear of impending death, scaling the mountain side with sheer drops and no safety railings (seriously it was).

Our days out took us to the sea life centre in Oban, a boat ride on Loch Linnhe, a standard issue tourist trip round Loch Ness, the very beautiful Cawdor Castle.....

Taken from the Souters Lass boat, Loch Lihnne...

A view of Cawdor Castle across the beautiful gardens...

Look who we found....

......and most spectacularly a gondola ride up Ben Nevis...

Eeek...

It's not everyday you get to play on a park up the top of Ben Nevis....

Saturday saw us head across to Edinburgh and a day in the zoo, the penguins, as Michael pointed out never fail to delight. Other highlights were the meerkats, zebras and chimpanzees..

This pic cracks me up.... "please don't eat me"

So there you have it, I hope my holiday snaps didn't bore you too much, I'll be back with the usual fanshion-y type things this week, but until then I'll leave you with a picture of me in the hugest bath ever....

Its a mighty big bath that can make this fat chick look positively tiny!!!

  3. Looks like a great time was had - nice to take time away from blogging for a bit! I will probably have a few days away from my blog once I move to the US to give me time to adjust a bit and spend much needed time with my Hubby. May do a zoo visit too!
    Have a great week!

  6. Lovely photos! The dragonfly (or is it a damselfly, buggered if I know!) is gorge and the one of Poppy in front of the penguins is so adorable. I love her little jumper too! I re-ee-eeally want to go to Scotland, the land of my forebears and all that malarky. x x
