Review - Simply Be, Grazia Print Kaftan Midi Dress

Hi guys, I was lucky enough to pick out a couple of dresses from the new season selection at Simply Be last week, so I'll be reviewing them over the course of the next few weeks. The first one is the Grazia Print Kaftan Midi Dress.

I'll be honest, when I chose this, I knew it would push me out of my comfort zone, it goes against everything I look for in a dress shape wise, its floaty, its got a lot of material in it, which for me is weird. I've spent so long learning to love my body and try and be bold in my fashion choices, I thought in some way I was letting the side down by wearing a floaty and what some might say is a "cover up" kind of dress. But then I realised I was a) being an idiot and b) surely the whole point of embracing your body is wearing whatever the hell you like, yes some days I love a body-con fitted dress, some days I like a baggy pair of jeans and a jumper and sometimes I will want to wear a floaty kaftan dress! and lets face it, the print and colouring of this dress is just stunning and that is what first attracted me to it.

This is a midi dress, and on my 5'7" body it is exactly that, but should you be significantly smaller, you might want to look at the length ans see where it sits, and for those of you dramatically taller, this would be a great option on you as a knee length dress instead.

I ordered my usual size 22 and I'd say it was true to the size, because of the nature of the dress, I think you have to go purely on if it fits you on the bust as the rest is pretty free fitting...

The dress itself is sheer and comes with a fully separate slip, so this could be great to go over your swimming costume on the beach as well, I can just see me swanning round the pool in wedges and a huge hat wearing this.... (yeh right like I'm that cool)

But folks this is England and its still majorly chilly so I wore mine with thick black tights, boots and a biker jacket...

I actually wore this outfit to go to a viewing of a new fashion label in an art gallery and I must say I felt suitable marvelous in it. So thanks Simply Be for allowing me to go out of my comfort  zone!!

  1. I really love the colour and print, but like you I tend to avoid kaftan/floaty cover-ups.
I like to show off my bod wherever possible, but I would definitely be inclined to try something like this on now, as you look fabulous in it!

  3. I love this and it looks perfect teamed up with boots and a biker jacket to toughen it up a bit. I think I would wear it the same way.
I recently tried the opposite, a bodycon dress which was completely out of my comfort zone and I loved it. Will try new things more often!
